Hello!
I've noticed that since the beginning of the year there have been no messages from the Admiralty, no word on a newsletter or Muse Awards, and not much action here on the forums either.

Goodness knows we all have real lives and RL issues to contend with, and simming will need to take a secondary place from time to time.  (Heck, if it weren't so for me, I'd've probably been making this posting a heck of a lot sooner!)

I just thought I'd check in, see what the status is, and if there is anything I can do to help.

Most of us are still here.  And thanks for asking.

For myself, my hours at work have changed (days of the week), and with trying to help my room-mate with starting up a new company (playing secretary), it changed everything for me.  Time is a luxery.  Even I had to make time for the Stargate sim on sundays when I can, and the first two sims were really fun, and then they 'disappeared' due to real life by the players, that I will not fault anyone for.  As you put it, Jamie, Real life has to come first.

I apologize for the lack of messages from the Admirality.

I'll look to my Editor for the Journal to step back up.  And if it is sent in, it will get published.

This is for everyone, you shouldn't have to be prompted to send stuff in every month, (I know it's nice to have the reminder), but Muse nominees were a monthly thing as were articles. (Ok, that was my gripe).

Heck, use the boards for news-worthy information about the sim (promos, new crew, what's going on, etc.), that is what it is here for. (it is included in the price for the webspace.)

As for new stuff.

As most of you know, Commodore Mollin (Dept Head) and myself (Dept 2nd) , as well as many others are heading to Columbus, Ohio for the MARCON Science Fiction/Fantasy convention and working in the Consuite (Convention Hospitality Suite).  See the bottom of the CP main page). During the convention we are planning on putting on an "Introduction to Interactive Fan Fiction Symposium".  As we all know, that is basically what we do.  At this point we are also looking to do something similar and expand on it at the Context Convention (also in Columbus) (which is primarily a convention for the Written Word).

If anone is interested in coming in to assist for MARCON, I need to know before April 7th, so we can get your membership in as Staff.

By 2009, the Celestial Prime is hoping to sponsor its own stand-alone All-Day Writers Workshops.  One focused at Youth and one focused at Fan Fiction.

I think that is all I can think of right now.  If I think of more, I'll add it later.

Humbly yours,
The Admiral

Please remind me of the deadlines for Journal articles and Muse submissions?  I can set up a regular reminder to myself to get those things in at the proper time.

Good luck with the convention work.  Alas, a 2400 mile journey (each way) just isn't practical for the forseeable future, so helping out in person isn't in the cards.  But let me know if there's any other way I can contribute to the effort.

Recommendation is Muses by the 7th, and Articles by the 15th, so that way, either myself or the Publisher will have time to get them up.

Quite alright, on coming to the Conventions.

I suppose since I am listed as Journal editor perhaps it would be nice if the admirality would occasionally let me know what is going on. Until I received the email regarding SOLAE I didn't know we had a forum anymore, let alone it wasn't the one I started. Oh well such is life. Let me know what is going on

It looks like a lot of the admiralty updates are posted here, but if it would help, I'd be happy to help by sending out reminders and requests for Muses nominees, articles and updates monthly so we can get this going again. I can help put it all together if you want. Just let me know what it'll take to get the journal up and running again. I'll help where I can.

Awesome! How 'bout we start by just getting updated alliance reports and muse nominees from each ship. It's Wednesday the 20th now. If we could get them by no later than, say , Saturday the 23rd, we could put the logs up for vote to be done by, say, Wednesday the 27th, and maybe get the a journal out before the end of the month if we hussle. What do you think?

Penny? Doable if we help?

Worth a shot, as far as I'm concerned.

How far back should be go, as far as Muse nominees?  One month?  Three?  Since the last Journal?

okay, well, we didn't get anything, at least not so I heard, but here we go...new plan... alliance reports, openings in your rosters and
muse award nominees for January by the tenth of February. It's the third now. That gives ship captains a week to get them together and get them to you, Penny, or me. We get the muses up for the vote by the twelfth, with voting ending the fifteenth, while we edit and format the rest of what we have as well as any article submissions anyone wants to send in. Working together, we can get it all ready for publication, including the muse winners, by the 21st.

I can hassle Avalon, Hood, which captains can you hassle? Wink

I can take care of the ISA Phoenix, Dark Bio Medical, and Lentheas.

For Muse nominees, do we want to just look at logs posted in January?

Just January is good, but as of today (2/11) those three are the only ships I've recieved anything from. Feel like nudging anyone or do we just want to try to get this one out with just what we have? Your call...

I know that Penny's got her net connection back, so let's ping her and see if we can at least get something for Avalon as well.  If she doesn't have time to do it, one of us can, but at least that way she'll be in the loop.  Let's see if we can wrap it up by Sunday night. How does that sound?
